We are here. We are live. We are ready to ride along with you for the 2023 FC Dallas and North Texas SC season.
Hello FC Dallas and North Texas SC fans!
We are excited to introduce you to Afterburn Soccer, a new home for what was once called the Big D After Dark show. We’ll provide a central source to stay plugged in and connected to our live soccer show for FC Dallas fans and the curious, as well as articles, reflections, and exclusive content. We hope you will sign up for a free subscription and other goodies down the road.
Afterburn Soccer owes a huge debt of gratitude to Drew Epperly and the cadre of writers covering FC Dallas at Big D Soccer. We started an FC Dallas-centered live soccer show a couple of years back, and Big D was gracious enough to help us launch and provide a venue. With changes at SBNation and our own desire to keep experimenting and provide something unique for FCD fans, we are giving our own site a go.
But please continue to support the work of Big D Soccer.
Our new Afterburn Soccer Show will air live on Monday evenings at 8 PM CST. You can tuck those kids into bed and join the conversation on Facebook, Twitter, or Youtube. We are working to implement some new features for the show, including interview clips with players and coaches from the FC Dallas family and different guests from the broader community.
Afterburn is hosted on Substack, so there are great features that will help us build this community. We have a handy SubStack app to stay up with the latest news, including a subscriber-only chat that we will utilize for irreverent chatter about the week’s news, and easy-to-use commenting that lets you give us feedback on our stories.
You can also expect a heavy dose of North Texas SC coverage, as we will watch for the next round of talented youth to take the next step and rise to stardom.
Articles will land right in your email box when you subscribe. At least initially, all of our stories will be available for everyone, but if you decide to throw $5 our way (a Whataburger value meal), we’ll use your support to invest in improving the quality of the live stream and other content.
Where did the Afterburn name come from?
We pay homage to our birth as an irreverent post-game show after the stadium lights go dark (aka After Dark), and we show respect to the historic origins of FC Dallas as the Dallas Burn, a founding Major League Soccer franchise.
We are excited about the future, and we hope you will join us for this ride. Dallas til we die!
