An interesting rumor has begun to circulate in the social media world, that a certain La Liga side is interested in FC Dallas striker Jesus Ferreira.
More than just interest, a recent report suggests that Cádiz has made a legitimate offer for Jesus, although if you parse the tweet below, reported by Juan Velasquez, the offer is a first team loan with non-mandatory buy option. Hmm.
Cádiz would be a solid landing spot for someone like Jesus, as our own internal rumor source, Jose Carmona, indicates the team has an attacking trio who are older but a playstyle that might suit Ferreira. A young striker to bring along into their system would be a strong move for the club’s future after finishing 14th in the table last season. Likewise, the La Liga side isn’t one to break the bank but would likely explore some creative options. There’s been debate over whether Jesus should demand a similar or better fee to Ricardo Pepi.
Jose also shared some of his own findings that Cádiz is not the only La Liga interested in the FC Dallas mainstay:
Supposedly, there are multiple La Liga clubs interested in Ferreira. Also, I hear only glowing reviews from Spanish fans on Jesus Ferreira.
He also indicated Jesus and his agent may have agreed on terms for a contract with Cádiz, but that could be moot if FC Dallas doesn’t like the offer.
There were rumors of foreign scouts in the house to watch FC Dallas draw Inter Miami in their last Leagues Cup match, so some of this smoke makes sense.
Ultimately, the question for FC Dallas is about timing and value. Do you feel you have enough attacking replacements on hand to finish out the MLS season strong without Jesus? Is the offer even worth kicking the tires on?
Remember that FC Dallas has been burned recently on sell-on clauses. They got no money from the Reggie Cannon deal and no money from Chris Richards’ movement. It’s unclear what they got from the Ricardo Pepi transfer to PSV. While a low transfer fee and high sell-on seem like a solid place to begin, maybe you hold out for the winter for more of a sure thing.
My gut is that unless something really strong materializes, Jesus Ferreira stays in Dallas.
What do you think about the rumor?
