Season Standing Prediction: Where will FC Dallas finish in the MLS Western Conference in 2026?
We are days away from the 2026 Major League Soccer season kicking off, and so on Monday, we took a moment to make our predictions of where this team lands in the pecking order.
Last year, despite a very slow start and a bunch of under performances at home, FC Dallas climbed surprisingly into the playoffs at 7th place.
This year, we wonder - has the team significantly improved to do better? Will they stay in that same general area? Is there enough upside for some of the young guys to take a step forward?
On paper, pundits from Major League Soccer (or AI bots for all we know) have predicted that FC Dallas will finish 10th place in Major League Soccer’s Western Conference, just over the Houston Dynamo. Absolutely nonsense.
What does our team here suggest?
Where will FC Dallas end up in the MLS Western Conference?
Coov - 7th. While FC Dallas got stronger in key areas, I think the 3 month away game stretch is going to kill momentum and possibly hurt the team in the long run.
Nathan - 6th! I think we take advantage of the struggles of a congested Western conference. (And some injuries!)
Chris - I see Dallas finishing 6th, I think they made a ton of progress at the end of last season and I felt like they only got better in the off-season. There are still holes to be patched on this team, but I like the potential we have with some of the younger players fighting for spots.
Jose - 3rd. Only 3 players over 30. Upside!
Who do you agree with? Are you more optimistic like Jose? Or more in line with what the league thinks?
That begs the question - who could our X-factor be?
Yes, FC Dallas did not go out and splash huge money for high profile transfers this offseason. They did good business though, adding Herman Johansson and Joaquín Valiente. They found some talent in the MLS SuperDraft. All of these guys should strengthen and deepen the squad’s floor.
But to raise the ceiling? I continue to look at Logan Farrington who has absolutely started off 2026 preseason in high form. He’s made it a personal goal to get to double digit goals on the year, which, paired next to Petar Musa, make FC Dallas’ attack formidable. Can other young players take their next step? As Jose points out above, this team is young. There is potential for Kaick, Nolan Norris, Geovane Jesus, and others to radically make an impact.
So, yes, it happens every year - we grow more optimistic, but I do like how this team is constructed to be competitive and steal points.
We’ll do better than 10th, for sure.
