Rumor: FC Dallas in Play for Lucho Acosta?
This offseason is so different for FCD fans, and to even be in the conversation for a player like Acosta, is massive. What do you think?
Stalwart Major League Soccer rumor-wizard Tom Bogert is at it again. In the aftermath of the introduction of cash transfers within the league, teams are lining up for a couple of star players looking for moves. Those two players - Evander with Portland Timbers and Lucho Acosta with FC Cincinnati.
Here’s the thing - Lucho wants to move to Boca. Alan Velasco just got sold to Boca. Maybe, just maybe, there is some synergy here. Dallas can promise Lucho a great year with striker partner Petar Musa, and if things work out, a tidy sale to Boca come next year. The two organizations are familiar working together. It’s a win/win.
For FC Dallas faithful, this is wild. If it happens, and there are a ton of “ifs”, Dallas will have quickly restocked and improved its offensive weaponry from a year ago under new head coach Eric Quill. And it shows that the front office is doing some important work in enticing legit stars in their prime to Dallas.
Of course, we’ll see. Lucho may not want to stick around in Major League Soccer. It’s just a rumor right now.
But if it does happen, Afterburn soccer contributor Collin “the Coov” will jump into a lake to celebrate.
