Report: Asier Illarramendi Is New FC Dallas Player
The veteran has spent the majority of his career with Real Sociedad and Real Madrid and now arrives in Frisco in time for a showdown with Messi and Inter Miami.
Fabrizio Romano is reporting that FC Dallas has a new signing inbound to replace homegrown player Edwin Cerrillo.
Asier Illarramendi is the name that has been circulating in the background, and it seems official now. The defensive midfielder definitely ticks off a box of need for FC Dallas. The question will be how long he takes to acclimate to Major League Soccer. Will he bit fit enough to go?
The bigger picture is that he can potentially be a huge veteran presence and an upgrade at that position going forward. Facundo Quignon has been in some of his best form lately, so it’s not going to be a situation where Asier comes in and takes the job. But we have all seen that FC Dallas could use another presence who upgraded either Quignon or Cerrillo’s skills.
It looks like they have that player.
The guy definitely has a nice resume, most importantly time with Real Madrid and more recently Real Sociedad, finishing top four last year.
What do you think about this addition?
Probably should add this link for fun. Thanks to Drew at @bigd.soccer for the link. Fun read but the tabloid is very click baity.
