Pepi to PSV: Done Deal
Former FC Dallas and North Texas legend Ricardo Pepi continues his journey with one of the top teams in Europe.
Ricardo Pepi to PSV is official.
Some questions will be out there for a bit until the terms of the deal are circulated, the biggest of which is - what is FC Dallas’ cut? How will it boost summer transfer window options for Dan Hunt and company?
But before we do that, it’s nice to take a moment and congratulate the youngster who made his way amid a difficult situation at FC Augsburg, went on loan, and then caught the attention of PSV. It’s a huge move, and who knows what it might mean for his future growth.
I asked North Texas head coach Javier Cano about this move, recognizing that Pepi spent some crucial time with the team on his route to Europe.
“Our platform North Texas is giving them the opportunity to perform at the pro level. You never know what is next. His brother is behind - training with us, coming with us. Santi Ferreira is also playing with us. The bridge in our club is short,” Cano said. “People watch us. Ricardo when he was playing with the first team. Most American players are being exposed to scouts in Europe. They ask me about the next project. We are trying to help our players to have platforms to have these dreams and achieve these dreams.”
Here is a throwback clip from my daughter when Pepi scored a hat trick for FC Dallas back on July 24, 2021. We were there. How the youngsters grow, right?
