North Texas SC Motivated Against Los Angeles FC 2
Head Coach Javier Cano says the team doesn't need extra motivation as they welcome LAFC 2 to Choctaw Stadium tonight.
While their senior team has been dealing with injury issues, North Texas SC has been turning to their youngsters, trusting academy kids and their super young squad to try to find results in MLS Next Pro. It hasn’t always looked pretty with late conceded goals or rough starts to sour otherwise energetic performances.
Tonight, as they welcome Los Angeles FC 2 into town, Head Coach Javier Cano told me that the team hasn’t needed any extra motivation, even recognizing their position outside of the playoffs at this point in the season.
North Texas SC has felt the squeeze while FC Dallas has struggled with injuries and international absences. Carl Sainte is out with the Haitian men’s national team. Antonio Carrera was away at the U20 World Cup. Korca, Kamungo, Mulato, Norris, and Endeley are needed with the senior squad.
This has given opportunities for new faces to emerge, from Julian Eyestone to Nayrobi Vargas.
Rumors abound that some help (from Argentina) might be on the way.
Until that happens, Cano has been clear that he trusts this team and believes that some of these disappointing results can be learning moments. The team can grow. They are one of the youngest teams, and there can be no excuses.
Once again, that plan will get tested tonight at 7:30 PM CST with Los Angeles FC 2 who sit at the bottom of the Western Conference table. A win could move North Texas from 10th to as high as 8th.
