New Era for FC Dallas?
Good morning, FC Dallas fans. Today, a big signing is revealed for FC Dallas. What does any of it mean?
Good morning, FC Dallas fans.
Today is a big day for the club, as they prepare to announce a club record signing… and get this, a striker who is in his prime, coming from a top club in Europe with legit international experience.
Pinch yourself. It’s happening.
This not-so-secret rumor has been circulating since last week, that FC Dallas had been zoning in on Petar Musa, a productive Croatian striker from Portuguese giants Benfica. Musa played last week as Benfica sought to advance in cup play, serving up a nice assist, and there were rumors that the head coach didn’t necessarily want him to leave, seeing him as a viable attacking option as the team dealt with injuries. The deal was too good to turn down from Benfica’s perspective.
In the past, FC Dallas has gone for strikers who are either projects, like Cristian Colman, flashing potential but needing some seasoning. Or, as in the case with Franco Jara, they’ve gone for guys looking for that final contract, veteran players who lost a step. In those instances, they’ve swung and missed. You have to go back to Blas Perez to find a productive transfer in that striker position, while their homegrowns have proved far more lethal and dangerous in front of goal.
In Petar Musa, FC Dallas has threaded the needle. They get a legit forward who can be productive at high levels of competition and is still just 25 years old. There is room for growth - for Dallas to build around Musa and complement Jesus Ferreira in an attack that has the potential to sizzle.
Wow.
It’s a new day for FC Dallas.
Stay tuned.
We’ll provide updates from the media conference with Nico Estevez this morning.
