Match Predictions: Dallas vs Portland
After the disappointment on the road, FC Dallas will return home and look to take the game to the visiting Portland Timbers. Match predictions now.
It’s a big weekend for our boys from Frisco, as they welcome the Portland Timbers into town in what should be a manageable home matchup.
FC Dallas will want to put the bad taste of that loss against Los Angeles FC behind them with some delicious home cooking. Portland has not precisely started the year in the place they want to be, but it’s always possible they can serve as a spoiler and steal a point or three on the road.
Dallas will miss Ema Twumasi, so Geovane Jesus will get his turn to show what he can do from the start. Here’s the thing. The eye test is solid enough. Geovane brings more of an attacking flair to the position but has looked suspect defensively. This is the kind of game where the youngster could try to do too much and get sent off early, which Dallas cannot afford.
But it’s also a chance for him to shine and make a case for a run of starts. We’ll see.
Sebastian Lletget likely rotates back in to start after taking care of some personal matters.
Paxton Pomykal gets the start again after a weekend off to recover from a precautionary issue.
Lots of intrigue and a chance for this team to start strong and finish strong.
Here is what our contributors think:
Ismael Belkoura: 3-1. Jesus brace and Lletget goal.
Jose Carmona: 2-1 Velasco and Jesus score, Lleget with both assists.
Tommy LeBeouf: FCD 4-0 over Portland. All scored by a Jesus.
As for me, I’ll go with a 2-0 nothing win for FC Dallas. We see the team put together a strong performance, their best of the season, and Geovane Jesus ends up with an assist to earn him another start next week.
