Live from Los Angeles Tonight
I’m covering the match tonight as FC Dallas visits Los Angeles Galaxy before prepping to face Los Angeles FC on Saturday. Here is what to watch for.
It’s an absolutely gorgeous day here in Los Angeles.
I’m sitting in the press box with my Diet Coke (I know, bad for you), watching Jimmy Maurer and Maarten Paes warmup.
Perfect night for some soccer.
The storylines to watch for:
How will FC Dallas respond mentally from the draw at home last Saturday? No doubt, the result stings after the effort and three goals scored. Can the offense keep going and maybe even correct a few things? Can they find some success against the Galaxy who are much improved as a team?
Is this a night where you hope to just weather a draw, keep guys healthy, and look to Saturday’s match? In my opinion, this is the easier of the two matches, so I doubt the team plays it safe.
Will they get some bounces? I mentioned earlier in the week that Dallas has earned some bounces after a tough start to the season. They got a couple on Saturday even if they squandered them. Can they get one - maybe a PK or another goalkeeper blunder?
Good news - Jesus Ferreira is back on the bench. His injury scare is at least set aside for now, though no doubt the team is going to manage his minutes a bit.
One fun note:
Antonio Carrera is traveling with the team right now, though he remains on loan to Carolina. The team just needs bodies for a long week.
I’m hearing plenty about call ups as national teams, both senior and youth, make decisions. Expect to see some familiar faces, including a potential Ecuadorian from FC Dallas.
