Jaiver Cano on Carl Sainte's Time with Haiti
During a media call on Friday, I asked North Texas head coach Javier Cano about Carl Sainte's performances with the Haitian national team.
There is a lot of soccer to enjoy out there with Gold Cup action, League’s Cup around the corner, and, oh yeah, FC Dallas welcoming Los Angeles FC tonight. (More on that later.)
One fun thread to watch for North Texas SC has been Carl Sainte’s rise with the Haitian men’s national team. While Haiti isn’t the strongest program, it represents another level of experience for the young midfielder as he grows and potentially makes a case for senior level minutes down the road. Carl has a lot of respect from his fellow North Texas players for the intensity and professionalism he brings to the game, and it’s obvious that his coach thinks highly as well.
One fun nugget from Cano - the Haitian national team coach is a fellow Spaniard, which means the two have had some good conversation about the youngster’s development.
Javi believes that Sainte can get to another level in his game, which is exciting as we think about FC Dallas’ needs in the midfield in the future.
North Texas plays against LAFC 2 at Choctaw Stadium on Sunday night.
