Afterburn Soccer Show w/ Favian Renkel - Live at 7 PM CST
The Afterburn Soccer Show is back and live tonight at 7 PM CST with special guest Favian Renkel from Kickbase USA. Go live with us?
Welcome to February, with weeks to go before Major League Soccer kicks off a massive year, and another edition of your favorite FC Dallas-related podcast.
Regulars Chris Winters, Colin Coovert, and Jose Carmona will join me tonight alongside a special guest from Kickbase USA (and the Athletic and others) Favian Renkel.
We’ll catch up on FC Dallas’ scintillating preseason so far with two solid wins, consistency in the lineup and approach, and the emergence of some young competition, including Ricky Louis and Nicholas Simmonds.
The big news of the day is Maarten Paes’ sale to AFC Ajax, announced today. The long-running keeper has been an excellent leader for the team, and his massive shot-stopping skills will be missed. Yet, Dallas is already locked in with Michael Collodi, a homegrown guy who got experience with North Texas SC and outright won the job toward the tail end of 2025. Rumors on a backup or competition are also emerging. We will cover it all.
Best of all, we will turn to our guest Favian Renkel to get his feelings on where FC Dallas sits in the mix in Major League Soccer. Is this team good enough to take the next step? Are we still sitting on the edge of the playoff line? What does this roster need to move up into contention?
