Afterburn Soccer Show: No Playoffs for FC Dallas? Live at 7 PM CST
FC Dallas aren't out of the playoffs, but their postseason hopes are on life support at best. We go live at 7 PM CST to break it all down and look ahead.
That is not how the weekend was supposed to go.
In fact, I can say with confidence that it was one of the worst sports weekends in my existence. My son’s high school football team? Blowout. Dallas Cowboys? Loss. Oklahoma Sooners? Nope. FC Dallas? Heartbreak.
At least we can look forward to North Texas SC marking their postseason start on Sunday evening up in the Bay Area.
Let’s spend some time tonight talking about that red card. Yes, FC Dallas got hosed. We got that bad bounce in soccer - cause seriously, bad calls happen in any sport - but such a crucial call at such a crucial time of the season. Why doesn’t the referee do a yellow and then check with VAR if they think it was worse? Why immediately go for the red?
And credit to Dallas for finding a way back in the game, but ultimately, it wasn’t enough. The LA Galaxy piled on the pressure, and Dallas struggled to keep up.
Hope is not completely lost with a crucial away match at Vancouver ahead. If they can get a result and other matches go their way, Dallas can keep this weird season going. But the optimism shouldn’t be high right now with Petar Musa and Ramiro out of action this weekend. Is this a fitting and poetic end to a bizarre season?
We go live at 7 PM CST on YouTube to break it all down.
