Afterburn Soccer Show Is Live Tonight
As we break down FC Dallas' loss to the Red Bulls, we welcome longtime commentator and reporter Steve Davis to the show tonight. We go live at 8 PM CST on Youtube, Facebook, and X.
Yesterday, I talked about why FC Dallas left New Jersey with more than just a loss but a mounting set of questions.
We’ll get into some of those questions tonight as we welcome special guest, Steve Davis, from fellow Substack site TexasXI. Of course, you know Steve as he has provided color commentary for Dallas and covered this team way since way back when. In other words, he’s the perfect person to ask - when should FC Dallas fans panic about the slow start to the season?
It’s not only FC Dallas fans who have been asking.
Tom Bogert and Jeff Reuter of the Athletic have placed Dallas among other teams in Major League Soccer who have yet to get going. Here is what the duo said:
They haven’t quite been controlling games as they hoped. A newly-installed 3-5-2 formation and a new club-record signing (Petar Musa) raised hopes to start 2024. It’s been just … okay.
It’s not time to have serious, serious doubts yet, but there’s definitely plenty of room to finetune performances.
It’s clear from the game against New York that Dallas is not where they wanted to be. Injuries have definitely played a role, but at some point, the team needs to get on the same page.
We will talk about when to panic and also who should get more minutes at right wing back, if there is an alternate formation for Dallas to employ, and how big this weekend’s match is.
